Go-Lab Summer School 2016

An important international event of the Go-Lab project is the annual Go-Lab Summer School for European teaching professionals in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). The highly interactive and engaging course aims at helping teachers to improve their teaching skills and practices introducing them to the use of online virtual experimentations and remote laboratories as well as to the inquiry-based science teaching methods.

This year’s edition Go-Lab Summer School 2016 will take place in Attica, Greece, from July 3rd – 8th, 2016. During the 6-days-event, the participants will work in small groups together with teachers from other countries, which drives the exchange of ideas and experiences as well as the successful creation of an inquiry-based multidisciplinary science activity. The overall objectives of the Summer School are, on the one hand, to make the participants familiar with the significance and opportunities of inquiry-based science teaching with online labs, and, on the other hand, to enable teachers to find and use the innovative tools of Go-Lab in order to create motivating and engaging science lessons.

The official application deadline for an Erasmus+ grant is already over, but the last opportunity to take part in the Go-Lab Summer School 2016 is the participation in the 3rd Go-Lab Contest for teachers “Promoting Multidisciplinary Science Teaching”. This competition invites you to apply the Go-Lab tools in your school and report on how you have used them in order to help your students to understand the connection between different scientific concepts you have taught them (in astronomy, biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, geology, physics, and other science classes). The deadline for your contribution is April 30th, 2016.

Two teachers from each participating country will be declared as winners of the contest on May 31st, 2016. All winners will be awarded with a six-day trip to the Go-Lab Summer School 2016. For more information about the contest registration and instructions for the participants, please visit the contest’s website: http://golab.ea.gr/contest2016 or download the contest flyer http://go-lab.ea.gr/contest2016/Nutshell.pdf. The main objective of the Go-Lab Contest 2016 is to inspire and encourage you in using Go-Lab and designing your classroom activities in a multidisciplinary setting. It serves also as an opportunity to share your experience with other teachers. So take your chance and submit your presentation!
