EUMETSAT (European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites) is a global operational satellite agency located in Darmstadt, Germany. Their main purpose is to collect accurate and reliable satellite data on weather, climate and the environment at any time of the day and night, and to make it accessible to the Member and Cooperating States, to international partners, and to users around the world.
Their recently launched education website http://l-zone.info/ is created to stimulate interest in weather and climate monitoring from space, including an interactive 3D satellite learning area where users aged 12 to 18 years old can learn about Europe’s weather satellites and climate monitoring. The webpage offers a lot of interesting and informative information, videos, tools, pictures and links to make the subject educational but also fun for the students.
A number of Earth observation data sets from EUMETSAT’s weather satellites will be integrated into the Go-Lab Portal. Go-Lab users will be able to include the observation data in their Inquiry Learning Spaces and use them to complement experiments conducted with related online labs.
